One of our favorite things to do throughout the day, and before bed, is to read books. My daughter has a bunch of books, but she always pulls out her favorites right before bed. After our nightly Bible story we always read a few (or all) of the following books:
1: Pat The Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt
This one is a classic. The illustrations are simple and my daughter follows along easily. She even feels her “daddy’s scratchy face” after that page in the book.
2: Ten Tiny Toes by Caroline Church
I love this book! It’s so helpful because as I’m reading it, she’s learning parts of the body. She’s so good at following along and pointing to each body part.
3: I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak
Just like Ten Tiny Toes, this book helps with learning, but it’s also sentimental. I love reading it to her and giving her a giant hug afterwards.
4: Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton
This book is so well loved, that we even have a second copy of it! My girl loves pointing to all the animals.
5: You Are My Heart by Marianne Richmond
Okay, this one may not be my daughter’s favorite, but it’s mine. I’m pretty sure that the first time I read it, I teared up. It’s just such a great book to let your baby know how much they are loved.
Sophie Pop-up Peekaboo by Dawn Sirett and Ten Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth are our two honorable mentions… my girl enjoys reading these books as well! (She’s pretty much destroyed the pop-up book, but that’s okay, interactive reading, right?)
