Tired of the same old frames hanging on the wall? Love the new canvas prints but think they are too pricey? Why not make your own?
Here’s what you will need:
Canvas (I got mine at Joann’s. They were in a 2 pack)
Enlarged picture (what ever size the canvas is)
Big paint brush
Modge podge
Glue stick
Ribbon as wide as the canvas usually 1″ works
Scissors
First you take your canvas and put the ribbon on. I used the glue stick to adhere the ribbon all the way around.
Once you get the ribbon on its time to put on the picture. Cut off about 1/8 inch from each side to allow picture to fit inside the ribbon border. Using the sponge brush apply the modge podge to the top of the canvas. Stick the picture on and press evenly to make sure it is secure. This is my little monkey. 🙂
Once the picture is attached, it’s time to make it look like a canvas print. Take the sponge brush apply a layer of modge podge over the top of the picture. Using even strokes that are going both horizontal and verticals. Let it dry completely. Here is another ribbon and photo.
Once dry, you can either put a hook on the back or use 3m Velcro like I did.
They can be a little heavy so I would do all 4 corners. Ta Da! All done. Here are what they look like. Not too shabby and a lot cheaper then having them printed on canvas.
Happy Crafting!
