You heard that right. A new app called MyHouseCall is bringing back the good old days of personal house calls done by certified medical providers in your area! Best of all, it is very affordable! MyHouseCall provides personal care to you and your family through a video chat or a live-visit house call. Yes, you can request that a medical provider come see you or your sick little one at home. The app, which can be downloaded to your cell phone/tablet/computer, is very user friendly and has an easy and quick set up. Apple and Android device download is available here. It really is a time saver!
I don’t know about you, but as a busy mommy of two little ones, this sounded too good to be true. As we know, our little ones like to get sick at the most inconvenient times. We end up calling our pediatricians who will schedule us in whenever they can, but sometimes it is not at a time convenient for us. We would rather not drag our sick little ones outside, especially in the winter months, into the car, drive, park, and spend more time in the waiting room, usually while you have your other kids in tow subjecting them to a million different germs.
MyHouseCall is amazing for this very reason. You can quickly log in and speak to a medical professional right away with a video chat with a professional who can give you advice on how to get better (things like colds, pink eye, rashes, and some infections can be evaluated with a video visit). If the symptoms require a home visit, your child can relax in the comfort of your own home while the doctor gives them a check up, with the potential to write prescriptions before leaving your home. Heck, even if you are sick (because we know us mommies don’t get sick days), we can stay in our pj’s and get a check up right at home.
** MyHouseApp is currently available in Allegheny County for house visits. Video chats can be done anywhere in the state of Pennsylvania. MyHouseApp is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 9:00 am-9:00 pm. The last request for a house call can be made at 8:00 pm and the last call for a video chat can be done at 9:00 pm. **
I personally got to experience a video visit with Jorjette, a nurse practitioner with MyHouseCall. She listened patiently to my concerns about my 9 month old daughter’s constipation. It was a week of constant crying and belly aches since my daughter was having a hard time going. And when they are that little and don’t go, it is so painful for them and for me to watch. The nurse practitioner was so nice and professionally answered all my questions. She gave me advice about fruits that start with the letter P and other helpful tips to alleviate the constipation. It seriously worked! I started following her advice and as a result, I have a much happier baby. Jorjette even followed up with me a few days later to check on my daughter! It was a nice personal touch that made me feel like I was a valued patient.
MyHouseCall has a great website that you can visit at http://www.myhousecall.net/. Go check out the website and learn all about this great service and download their app. Their FAQs explain the services with respect to your insurance, give you their latest rates ($39 for a video call and $99 for a house call), and explain the app in detail. You can also get to know the staff of great medical professionals that are state licensed and certified. They are ready to take care of you and your family. Go give them a call!
