A Guide to Pittsburgh’s Best Kid Friendly Halloween Events

Who knew Pittsburgh had so many fun Halloween themed events! In this guide you will find Halloween parades and parties for kiddos all around town!

Idlewild ‘s Annual Hallowboo!

Happening every weekend in October from 11:30am to 6pm

Families are encouraged to wear their costumes as they enjoy trick or treating through the forest. Additionally other fall fun in the haunted train and hay maze. Also included are special live performances of Halloween themes such as “Monster Mash” and “Jack-0-Lantern Live”.

Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium Annual Zoo Boo

October 22nd and 23rd and October 29th and 30th

10am to 3pm

This annual event encourages kiddos to come dressed in their costumes as they will trick or treat throughout the zoo. They will also get to see the animals receive their special treats and enjoy fun fall activities along the way. Zoo Boo activities are included in general admission.

Adult – $16
Seniors (60+ years of age) – $15
Children (ages 2-13) – $14
Children under 24 months – Free

Gateway Clipper

Set sail on the river for a Halloween Cruise. Enjoy an afternoon of sight seeing on the river combined with a Halloween costume party. Treats and fun prizes are included in the fun!

When: October 29th and 30th

Boards: 1:15pm

Sails: 1:30pm to 3:30pm

National Aviary Owl-o-Ween

October 22nd and October 29th

11am to 3pm

Whooooo loves Halloween! The National Aviary does. They have gone all out to provide a fun filled fall experience! Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes to their visit to the aviary. Everyone is encouraged to be ready for candy , crafts and even a creepy crawly bug race! Also featured as part of the Halloween fun are extra special encounters with our favorite creatures of the night like owls and raptors! All the Halloween fun is included in the general admission!

Children $13 Children under 2 are free

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Halloween Costume Party

October 25th 7pm to 8pm

Dress in your best Halloween costume and join in the fun at the library’s Halloween party. Listen to stories and sing songs and even “parade” through the library in your costume!

Mt. Lebanon’s Pumpkin Patch Parade

October 29th 11am (Rain or Shine)
Where: Washington Road
The parade starts at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery and runs through the uptown business district to Washington Elementary School.
Following the parade, children are welcome to trick or treat at participating businesses along Washington Road. Look for the orange “Trick or Treat” sign in their store / business window

Carnegie Borough Annual Children’s Halloween Promenade

October 29th 12pm

Registration begings at 12 non at the Main Street Bridge in downtown Carnegie. The promenade begins at 1pm. There are surprises and treat bags for all participants. The prizes for favorite costumes will be broken into five age catergories. Participation ranges from infants to 6th grade.

Sewickley Borough Halloween Parade

October 29th 10:30am

Begins at Broad and Thorn Streets

Parade your Halloween best through Sewickley’s main streets!

Robinson Town Centre Halloween Parade

October 29th 1pm to 3pm

Where: Park Manor Boulevard
Pittsburgh, PA 15205

Free treat bags, face painting, balloon animals and more! Check website for more details soon!

Nightwalk on the Panhandle Trail

October 22nd at 7pm

Night walk has become an annual Halloween tradition in Collier Township. More than 100 carved jack o’ lanterns illuminate the trail. Kids and families are encouraged to wear their costumes as they enjoy stories and cider by the campfire. Treat bags are also distributed to children 11 and under. Participation is free but donations are welcomed.

Plum Borough Education Association Festival in the Park and Costume Parade

October 23rd

Doors open at 11am Parade starts at 12pm

Boyce Park Ski Lodge

675 Old Frankstown Road

Monroeville/Plum

This fun event is held in memory of Kim, Brenna, and Mikaela Griffith who lost their lives during a flash flood on Washington Boulevard in 2011. This family centered event has a costume parade, lots of children’s activities, food and raffle prizes.  Visit their website for more details.

Pine Township Halloween Party in the Park

October 22nd

$3 per person

This is a party to celebrate our little ghosts and goblins with a special Halloween Party at Pine Community Park. There are a variety of children’s activities to enjoy including a petting zoo, train rides, prizes, storytelling, hayrides, a bonfire and costume contest. All of the proceeds collected will benefit the Pine Community Park development.

Marshall Township Halloween Parade

October 29th 1pm

Starts at 350 Northgate Drive at the old school parking lot and ends at Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department 270 Northgate Drive

Kiddos will love marching along in their favorite costumes as they travel down Northgate Drive. The Parade ends at the Fire Department where treats and crafts await them!

Spooktacular at Caste Village

October 22nd

Noon to 2pm

Caste Village Shopping Center

Fun to had by all in this South Hills shopping center’s Halloween event. Kids can enjoy pumpkin painting, hayrides, trick or treating and costume contests!

Cecil Township Trail of Treats

October 29th

Cecil Park

3640 Millers Run Road, Cecil

This  event is geared toward children 12 and under. Children are invited to wear their costume and follow along the haunted illuminated trail to collect treats from area businesses. All enjoy Halloween music and treats at the concession stand.

Trick or Treat, Tanger Style

All Ghosts and Goblins are invited to come and trick or treat at Tanger on Halloween night. Children 12 and under can trick or treat on the side walks of Tanger outlets.

Halloween Spooktacular at Moon Park

October 26th

4:30pm to 6:30pm

1350 Joe DeNardo Way (Ewing Road)

Moon Township, Pa

Moon Parks and Recreation hosts this annual Halloween  event at Moon Park. This event will feature a treat bag for the first 400 children. Additionally there will be pumpkin painting, trick or treating, DJ, story time, and music from Moon Area School’s Marching Band.
