Make brown bagging it cool again with this free afternoon performance at the Pittsburgh Opera. Musical arrangements from Romeo and Juliet, Faust, The Pearl Fishers, and much more.

Wings in Winter Holiday Show begins at The Aviary: November 11
Take a seat at the Aviary theater and sing, dance and have fun with the feather friends like owls, macaws, kestels and Santa. The Holiday Show features classics like “I’m Dreaming of a White Chicken” and “Silver Gulls.”

Dog Loves Books by the Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater: November 13-17
This delightful new musical based on the New York Times best seller by Louise Yates is about a dog who loves books, owns a bookstore, and brings stories to life for his customers. Recommended for ages 3-10 years old.

Three Rivers Film Festival: November 17-20
The 35th annual 3 Rivers Film Festival is the oldest in the region, celebrating art form of independent cinema featuring 31 films, ranging from drama and narratives to documentaries and shorts. Sit back and enjoy!

Annual Comcast Light Up Night 2016 in Pittsburgh: November 18
Kickoff the holiday season at Light Up Night in downtown Pittsburgh. The day includes official tree lightings throughout the downtown area, several music stages, the annual Gingerbread House Display and Wintergarden, Santa and reindeer sightings, horse-drawn carriage rides and ice skating at PPG Plaza. Market Square will host the Peoples Gas Holiday Market, a European-style shopping area with 30 vendors of international and handcrafted gifts. A Christmas Story at the Benedum: November 22-27
If you remember Ralphie Parker, pink bunny pajamas, a double-dog dare to lick the frozen flagpole or the infamous leg lamp, then you have seen A Christmas Story. Nominated for three Tony Awards, A Christmas Story, The Musical is full of catchy songs to make this holiday favorite.
 
Winter Garden Show and Light Garden at Phipps: Opens November 25
Phipps is transformed into a wintery whimsical adventure where “Snow Day at Phipps” includes exhibit rooms with penguins and bears, decorated trees, snowball fights and ice skating, a winter railroad, and a huge outdoor light garden display. It’s truly magical.


A Very Eclectic Christmas at the Byham Theater: November 25-26
The season gets brighter at the holiday performance about family, friendship and hope. Follow the story of a young bird that gets lost and lands at the North Pole, and enjoy holiday musical hits ranging from Nat King Cole to Mariah Carey.

Santa Trolley at the Western PA Trolley Museum: Begins November 26
Take a scenic ride on an old fashioned trolley while having fun with Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and holiday crafts. Children will meet Santa on the trolley!

2016 WPXI Holiday Parade: November 26
Celebrating 36 years, the Holiday Parade features national and local celebrities, high school marching bands, festive floats, gigantic balloons and much more. Watch out for Santa and his Reindeer too!

Community Events Manager - Jamie Welnick lives in the North Hills of Pittsburgh with her two year old son (Pete), husband of 5 years (Mark) and rescue dog (Dot). She is the go-to person for events in the region, and loves to pack up her family on weekends to check out a new community event, free concert, family fun run or outdoor hike. When Jamie is not exploring a new part of Pittsburgh, she enjoys running, restoring furniture and time at the lake. Her career experience includes management in corporate marketing, non-profit organizations, special events and media. These roles include Program and Events Manager at the Chamber of Commerce (in WI) and Marketing Director at Entercom Radio. In addition, she has volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and is a strong advocate for early intervention programs in Pittsburgh. With Pittsburgh Moms, she hopes to connect families, share information about community happenings, and inspire others to engage in one of the many activities Pittsburgh has to offer.
