Traveling with a Toddler

One of my very favorite things to do is travel. The first year was a lot harder than I thought it would be, so we didn’t do too much traveling. It also didn’t help that my girl hated her car seat!

We are embarking on our first road trip this weekend, and our first plane trip later this month! Our road trip is only about 4 hours long, but I still had to plan for every detail!

We made sure to leave around a nap time. It worked out well because after 30 minutes on the road, our girl was asleep! On the way home, we left at her bedtime and she slept the majority of the way, which was great! Unfortunately, we couldn’t plan our plane trip and layovers with her nap time, so that should be interesting.

I froze a couple water bottles, and used them as ice packs to keep milk cold in a thermal bag. Hacing the cold water to drink was nice too,  so that was a win-win. We also packed snacks, and more snacks. Our daughter loves crunchies!

After packing the essentials (clothes, diapers, wipes, etc.), I made sure to pack a variety of toys, and plan to give them to her throughout the trip- just in case she gets bored easily. We even downloaded some Sesame Street songs, since she loves Elmo.

My daughter received one of those small fold out couches for her birthday, which she uses all the time, so we decided to bring that too. She had her own seat in the hotel room!

We made sure to also pack some Tylenol and Camillia, as they help so much with teething! Our girl is getting two more molars in, and she definitely needs some pain reliever. I feel like she is always teething!

I love that we are able to travel, and I really hope that my daughter loves adventures as much as we do! There is just so much to see the in world, and I want to be able to show her everything.

I’m a bit nervous about the plane trip later this month. I thought about passing those small goodie bags out to other passengers around us, just in case my girl starts crying a lot. I decided against it though, she’s not doing it on purpose, and adults can just put some headphones on.
