Affordable fun for the whole family – Children’s and Bridge Theater Series!

This season, the Children’s Theater Series is celebrating its 50th birthday season and will be presenting award-winning, professional theater for its young audiences ages 3 and up. The EQT Bridge Theater is also getting ready for a new season with performances created specifically for pre-teens and teens – all at affordable prices – only $12 or less!

It is also easy for you to incorporate theater into your family’s schedule as most shows on the Children’s Theater Series have performances Downtown and travel around the region for a performance in your town – including Mt. Lebanon, Wexford, Butler and more! EQT Bridge Theater Series shows all take place in Downtown Pittsburgh – a perfect day to explore the city!

Judy Moody and Stink

Nov 17 – 24, 2019

For Ages 3+

Based on the popular book series by Megan McDonald, be prepared to go on a hilarious adventure live on stage with Judy Moody and Stink, the dynamic sister and brother duo. As usual, Judy is in a mood. After seeing her classmate’s picture on the front page of the newspaper, Judy wants to be famous and sets off to find fame and happiness. All the while, Stink and his foul-smelling sneakers become a real distraction as he vies for the coveted Golden Clothespin Award.

The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System

January 5-12, 2020

For Ages 3+

Hop on the Magic School Bus for a ride in this new musical adaptation based of your favorite book series.

When the class gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! But when rivalries both old and new threaten to tear the students apart, our young heroes must learn to pull together.

Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure

February 23, 2020 – Byham Theater Exclusive!

For Ages 3+

Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure is an immersive experience that invites you to jump in and explore unknown ocean depths where prehistoric marine reptiles lived eons ago – and maybe live still today! Actors, technology, puppets, science and imagination come together to create an amazing visual experience that connects young audiences to the real science of paleontology.

Diary of  a Wombat

March 22-29, 2020

For Ages 3+

Meet Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia. Bored with her daily routine, Mothball goes in search of shelter and food, creating chaos in the lives of the humans around her.

Between a packed schedule of scratching, sleeping and eating Mothball discovers that with a bit of persistence, humans are quite easily trained!

Based on the multi award-winning picture book, Diary of a Wombat by Australian Children’s Laureate, Jackie French and Bruce Whatley.

Doodle POP!

May 14-17, 2020 – also part of the EQT Children’s Theater Festival!

For Ages 3+

The mischievous Doodle POP! duo invites you into the delightful doodling world! Join as they experience an exciting adventure in an ocean world they imagine and create while on stage. What will happen to them in this beautiful but scary watery world, as will they try to return a turtle doodle to the sea safely?

With live sound effects, stunning animation, and an abundance of theatrical imagination, this is a touching and exciting screen show for anyone ages 3+

An Elephant In the Garden

1945 – Dresden, Germany. Two children and their mother flee falling bombs during World War II. They aren’t alone, though. An adorable elephant from the zoo named Marlene becomes an unlikely family member. This story of family, elephant, friends and enemy-turned-ally illustrates the importance of love, resolve, and hope in wartime and anytime. Party based on a true story, An Elephant in the Garden is an adaptation from the best-selling novel by Michael Morpurgo, author of over 100 books including War Horse, Private Peaceful and Kensuke’s Kingdom.
