Dear Baby

To my last baby,

This morning at 5:36 am you turned eight years old. I am not sure how this happened; I tried not to blink. But still I missed it. As a stay at home mom I was here for you. I saw your first steps and heard your first words. Yet I still missed it, you grew up. Faster than the other two probably because you had them to keep up with.

I documented all the firsts; teeth, steps, foods… yet I can’t remember the last time I washed your hair… kissed your boo boo… or even read you a story (you have been reading to me for 5 years).  I wish someone would have told me how fast the baby of the family grows… faster than all the rest. I would have held on a little tighter, rocked you a little longer, snuggled a little more. While you are too cool to hold my hand and nearly too big for my lap… you will always be my baby girl.

Love, Mommy
