The BEST Caramel Apple Pie

Have you been looking for the perfect apple pie recipe? Here it is! I recommend making a lattice crust, but if that’s not your thing, I promise this pie will still turn out delicious! Enjoy!

The BEST Caramel Apple Pie

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 8 Granny Smith apples; peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 350.

To make your caramel mixture, melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour until smooth. Add white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Combine cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla with sliced apples, and stir evenly to coat.

Pour 3/4 of the caramel over apples, and stir to coat again. Fill your bottom crust with apples, should be slightly mounded. Lay your lattice crust over the top, and pour remaining caramel over top, brushing to coat top crust evenly. If your caramel mixture seems too thick, it’s okay to reheat it and add an additional 1/4 cup of water to thin it.  If not using a lattice, just pour remaining caramel over top of apples, and cover with top crust.

Bake at 350 for one hour, and be sure to use a drip catch under your pie.

Enjoy!
