No Time for Doctor Visits – Try UPMC Anywhere Care

We’re in the peak of cold and flu season, and it’s one of the worst flu seasons ever. We know how difficult it is for a parent to see their child sick and want to do whatever they can, as quickly as they can, to make their little one feel better. We want to show everyone how UPMC AnywhereCare can quickly and directly connect them to a healthcare professional, without ever leaving home.

As a mom, getting sick is the worst! Being a stay at home mom, there are no such things as sick days. I think my youngest can sense if I’m getting sick, because without fail, she becomes super needy when mom is sick. She decides those are the days she is going to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 6 am; and there is no such thing as her playing by herself. If I’m lucky enough to be able to call in reinforcements, aka Nana or a babysitter, then all I want to do is lay in bed and watch a cheesy movie. The last thing I want to do when I’m sick and am actually getting a moment to myself is go to the doctor. The sick mom nightmare of course is not only being sick but also dragging your kids along with you to the doctor. Of course anyone who is in need of antibiotics also know you will do what you have to do to feel better!

People may complain about too much technology BUT when I discovered UPMC Anywhere Care, it felt like I had hit the jackpot. I woke up on Saturday with terrible allergies and by Tuesday I knew it had become a sinus infection! After dealing with allergies for over thirty years, I can tell immediately when it has become a sinus infection. My head was throbbing, and I had finally convinced my daughter to take a nap and all I wanted to do was lay down. I decided I would try the UPMC app and let me just say it was so easy. After inputting my personal and insurance information, I was given the cost. Using the service cost $49 or less depending on your insurance.  I then answered a few questions about my health and BAM I was connected to a doctor. We chatted via video chat about my symptoms and she diagnosed me as having sinusitis. The whole process took less than 20 minutes and she automatically sent my prescription to the pharmacy of my choice!

UPMC Anywhere Care is the perfect solution for any busy mom or for those middle of the night fevers with your children! I always joke my kids only get sick when the pediatrician is closed!
